Introducing Bokksu

Welcome to the Bokksu blog! My name is Danny, and I’m the founder of Bokksu.

Bokksu is a curated subscription service for people to discover delicious snacks from all over Japan. We aim to delight our subscribers throughout the entire Bokksu experience, from receiving our custom-designed boxes to enjoying our tasty authentic snacks.

Other Japanese snack subscription services use mass-produced snacks and candies that can be easily found at most Asian supermarkets outside of Japan. We directly source our artisanal snacks from local snack shops in Japan and never include filler items in our boxes. Also, as Japanese snacks are usually enjoyed with tea, we include tea pairings with each box to further enhance that month’s flavors.

Each month’s assortment is inspired by an aspect of Japanese culture, which we distill into a central theme shared by all the snacks. These themes can be based on snack types, regions, or seasons. For example, our inaugural February beta box’s theme was “Western-style Japanese Confections”, so the assortment included soufflé cakes and chocolate butter cookies. As a sneak peek, future themes will include “Matcha Love” and “Hokkaido Eats”.
